My Internship at Marlex as an Algorithm Developer

During my internship at Marlex (Marlex Company LinkedIn) as an Algorithm Developer, my team and I worked on an impactful project focused on building an algorithm to streamline and enhance the company's quality control processes. This involved developing a system capable of analyzing performance data from over 70 offices across Spain, with the goal of setting a robust foundation for variable compensation decisions based on key performance indicators (KPIs).

Our role was to design and implement an algorithm that could systematically assess each office's quality control KPIs, which required in-depth analysis of performance data from disparate sources. To tackle this, we leveraged SQL to manage, query, and organize the substantial datasets, ensuring that the data could be processed efficiently. PowerBI and DAX were then used to create dynamic dashboards and visualizations, making insights accessible and actionable for decision-makers. These tools enabled us to filter and present KPIs that directly affected compensation, turning raw data into transparent, decision-support information.

The project's complexity lay in ensuring accuracy and consistency across multiple offices with unique performance metrics, and the resulting algorithm is expected to have a lasting impact on Marlex's operational standards by aligning compensation with performance quality. This project gave me a hands-on opportunity to apply my technical skills in a real-world setting while making a tangible difference to the company's strategic goals.

I'd like to thank my intern buddy Oriol Codony (Oriol's LinkedIn) for being an amazing teamate and my boss (and recruiter) Gil Colom for this opportunity and for all his feedback during the work (Gil's LinkedIn). Also thanks to all the Data and Process team at Marlex
